ABOUT TOEFL iBT TEST
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is one of the most widely recognized and respected English proficiency exams in the world. It is designed to measure the ability of non-native English speakers to use and understand English in an academic setting. The TOEFL is primarily used by universities and institutions as a requirement for admission, but it is also accepted by governments and employers for various purposes like visas and job applications. TOEFL Test Versions
- TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test): The most common version, administered online at designated test centers.
- TOEFL PBT (Paper-based Test): This version is less common and is only available in areas where the iBT is not accessible. It includes different sections, and its scoring system differs from that of the iBT.

- Estimated Time: 16 minutes
- Questions/Tasks: 4 Tasks
- Description: Talk about a familiar topic and discuss material you read and heard.
Writing
- Estimated Time: 29 minutes
- Questions/Tasks: 2 Tasks
- Description: Read a passage, listen to a recording, type your response.State and support an opinion in an online classroom discussion.
Test time
The total test takes just under 2 hours to complete, but you should plan for 2.5 hours, allowing 30 minutes for check in.

TOEFL iBT TESTING OPTIONS
The TOEFL iBT test is offered two ways, so you can choose the best option to fit your needs and preferences. Be sure to check with the institutions where you are applying to confirm their specific requirements.
Test at a test center
If you prefer a traditional test environment, a test center is the best option for you.
- Availability: Available worldwide at thousands of authorized TOEFL iBT test centers.
- Test day: Visit What to Expect on Test Day to see a video about checking in and other test center procedures you’ll experience on test day.
- Dates: Offered more than 170 times a year.
Test at home
The TOEFL iBT Home Edition is the same TOEFL iBT test you would take at a test center, just taken from the privacy of your own home and monitored online by a human proctor.
- Availability: Available worldwide.
- Requirements: Make sure you meet the Environment and Equipment requirements for at home testing before you register.
- Dates: Available 24 hours a day, 4 days a week, with appointments available as early as 24 hours after you register.

- Total Score Range: 0–120 points (combined score for all four sections).
- Section Scores: Each of the four sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing) is scored on a scale from 0 to 30.
- Score Reports: The scores for the individual sections are available, as well as the total score. The test results are usually available within 6 days of taking the exam.

- Reading: 0–30
- Listening: 0–30

- Good (94–109): Indicates strong proficiency.

- Where to Take the Test: The TOEFL is available at test centers worldwide, and it is administered multiple times per year.

- Test Scores: TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years from the test date.
